Shoes of Fashion Week

I thought the shoes of fashion week deserved a post of their own....if I could manage a coherent sentence to describe the associations with these images, the keywords would be 'Spell-bound', 'Wishlist' 'NOW"....

Street Styling

No sooner than you put your summer clothes back in your wardrobe and you start dressing for Fall, it’s time to think of summer again!! September heralds the return of Fashion Week, which is the culmination of many months of round-the-clock hard-work to present looks, trends and colors that are going to dominate the next season. Though the runway shows are ‘bang-on-trend’, it’s the flurry of activity outside these shows that are far more captivating. Street style’s taken center-stage and personal style is being broadcasted all-over the internet like never before, through cleverly captured candids by the likes of The Sartorialist’s Scott Schuman, Style.com’s Tommy Ton and a host of others. Photography is an art and these photographers have mastered the art of capturing the essence of true style, which is the ability to transcend above the monotonous conformity to runway trends, color wheels and fashion do’s and don’ts. As a result, the images are a visual treat, an explosion of color that you’d never thought could be worn together. Accessories which you think border on garish, but when worn by these style chameleons, makes you want to almost run out and get yourself the same thing…. that is the power of personal style!!!

If You Aren't Listening To It Already, You Should be

These two heavyweight tracks don't dissapoint!!!! First of is 'Strange Clouds' which is the first single from B.o.B's second studio album..this one features (again) Lil Wayne. (He seems to be having a good run on his collaborations!) Here's a trailer for the new single.... Then Rihanna takes the Kelis route and tries out Calvin Harris on a track called 'We Found Love'. This one's gonna be all over the charts!!! Two great tunes on a Monday!!! It doesn't get better than that!

Speedy Singh

I think Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar have set Bollywood's newset trend of roping in international artists to make music for their movies. Akon's 'Chamak Challo' for Shah Rukh Khan's Ra One is a major thumbs down...but on the contrary Ludacris fares really well on 'Shera Di Kaum' with Akshay Kumar for his home production 'Speedy Singh'. The cast for the movie includes Rob Lowe, Camilla Belle and funnyman Russell Peters!! I've seen the promos and Russell Peters' is hilarious in this one!

Freedom

When you are the designer 'du jour', it's hard to go unnoticed and before long your signature style soon loses it's sheen.... I think that's going to be the case with Falguni and Shane Peacock....so with one look at the outfits for the new Sugababes single 'Freedom' and you know who designed the outfits.

If You Aren't Listening to it Already, You Should be

I've been away...so I wasn't able to cover the last of August's new releases...the highly anticipated Jay-Z Kanye collaboration, 'Lift Off' was a bit of a let down. But I found that Lil Wayne and Drake's 'She Will' is a keeper. Keeping it similar, Lil Wayne also teamed up with Bruno Mars for 'Mirror' which is one of the three tracks off the deluxe edition of Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV, his ninth studio album. On a lighter note, I'm also loving 'Trouble' by Bei Major featuring J. Cole...

Covers of Fall

As far as magazine covers go, I seldom find any to write home about, not that there aren’t some really good ones out there but after a while they all kind of blend into each other. However September’s issue of Harpers Bazaar caught my eye...not only because Sonam Kapoor looks spectacular on the cover; it is her photo shoot inside that I thought deserved a mention. With Ms. Kapoor on board, the outcome of any photo shoot is undoubtedly going to be stunning. Being the style-chameleon that she is her adeptness at channeling looks with ease and confidence is uncanny, which is why I think this is such a great shoot. With the onset of “Fall” and the ubiquitous somber shades being the norm for Fall collections, this particular piece manages to radiate warmth and a very luxurious feel.
The styling has a very old-world glamour, post-war drama and a modern-day Scarlett O’Hara vibe and is shot against rich, jade foliage. On the cover, Ms. Kapoor is in a signature Falguni and Shane Peacock creation. Inside the magazine, she has been photographed in Cue, Armani Fall 2011. I love the shot of her in the black Rahul Mishra Fall 2011 outfit against the moss covered steps. With Ms. Kapoor promoting her new movie, it's going to be interesting to watch her spate of uber-chic appearances.

Prints

This particular print has been in the running for the most popular print this year giving florals a run for it's money. Personally, i think this one's cooler and edgier!!
It's the Aztec/tribal print which has been all over everything, dresses, pants, jewellry, bags....This one I'm not tired of as yet!!

If you Aren't Listening to it already, you should be

The first time I heard this one, two weeks ago...I thought it was alright but I listened to it again today...and it's been on replay!!!

David Guetta deviates a little on this tune to a more powerful, dance beat sound..which is awesome!!! He was kind of stuck in a beat rut I guess...

'Titanium' is the promotional single off David Guetta's fifth studio album titled 'Nothing But The Beat' and it features Australian pop singer Sia Furler.

If you aren't listening to it already, you should be

I was so excited when I saw this track posted this morning...Timbaland Guetta and Pitbull...could it get any bigger or better!
So obviously it should make the 'If you aren't listening to it already....." cut but What a let down!!! It sounds like a badly edited mixtape!!!

So much for great expectations!!

Covered

Growing up me and most of the kids I grew up with could not get enough of Haddaway's What is Love..I still love to listen to it every now and then and reminisce!

But it has been 'covered' in more ways that one! The most popular being Eminem and Lil Wayne's 'No Love' which used a sample of this song.

Then there's 'I'm Outta Love' by Jackie Boyz which is a cover.

Orange Love

I'm totally feeling this Vanessa Bruno orange blazer..it's cute, edgy, fun...true love!

Shantanu & Nikhil

Shantanu and Nikhil's designs have always been contemporary uber cool with a luxurious feel...their blend of color palettes, drapes and cuts are outstanding and of the shows presented so far during the Delhi Couture week..these are by far my favorite!
The romance is definitely there in this Elizabethan era inspired line.
